What is the marketing mix
What is the promoting blend What is the Marketing Mix The advertising blend of Product, Price, Promotion, and Place was acquainted with showcasing instruction by McCarthy (Yudelson 1999). First planned as an educational apparatus, the idea of the 4Ps speaks to a complete method to depict the fundamental undertakings of promoting administrators. (Goldsmith 1999). It is used to actualize corporate arranging subsequent to having explored and examined the showcasing condition, distinguished and comprehended the client, set up a technique and chose which market(s) or advertise sections to serve, or need to serve (Anonymous 2006). The Marketing Mix has its roots during the 60s: Neil Borden (1964) recognized twelve controllable advertising components that would result to a gainful business activity. Jerome McCarthy (1064) discounted Bordens elements to a basic four-component system: Product, Price, Promotion and Place. Specialists and scholastics grasped the Mix worldview that before long turned into the set up and basic component of promoting hypothesis and operational showcasing the board. (Constantinides 2006) The 4Ps were a reasonable structure for the 1960s condition which was portrayed by benefit making purchaser producing organizations who were worried about arriving at their clients during a time of rising broad communications and national mass markets. (Unknown 2006) Eventually the 4Ps of the advertising blend turned into an irrefutable worldview in scholastic examination, the legitimacy of which was underestimated. (Grã ¶nroos 1994). There are voices however from scholastics and scientists which yell that the Marketing Mix as the 4Ps can't confront the most recent showcasing challenges. The segments of the Mix Item Since its the buyers recognition that ought to be the focal point of item strategy, the item ought not be characterized as simply the arrangement of its own physical properties. The discernments are affected by various boundaries, for example, any related administrations, the picture, the brand name, even the social and social associations, or the view of its own separation from rivalry. An item is a blend of substantial and elusive characteristics, including useful, social and mental utilities or advantages (Anonymous 2006). Cost Cost is the main income producing component of the showcasing blend; different components expend assets. There are three essential estimating methodologies that all associations can seek after for existing items: evaluating over the market (higher than comparable competitve items), valuing underneath the market (lower than rivalry) and evaluating at the market (nearly at the cost of rivalry) (Anonymous 2006). Advancement One long haul reason for advancement is to impact and urge purchasers to acknowledge or embrace merchandise, administrations and thoughts. Potential purchasers experience a mental or social procedure before buying an item. AIDA, which is an abbreviation for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action consolidates mental procedures: consideration is a subjective procedure, intrigue and want are emotional procedures and activity is a show conduct process (Anonymous 2006). Spot Spot, or circulation methodology concerns the courses by which advertisers of items and administrations can guarantee that these arrive at their proposed showcase. We typically allude to these courses as advertising channels, which incorporate those middle people that items and administrations go through from the purpose of creation to the point of definite use (Anonymous 2006). Analysis TQM and Relationships Management: Adaptation, not Revolution Yudelson (1999) distinguished six significant promoting advancements that tested the 4Ps since the presentation of the Marketing Mix. Concentrate on the client by means of the Marketing Concept (1960s); Expanding of promoting to incorporate not-for-benefits, administrations, causes, and even legislative issues (1970s); Recognizable proof of the trade exchange as the center of promoting (1970s); Presentation of Total Quality Management with its accentuation on consumer loyalty (1980s); Expansion from exchange promoting to relationship advertising (1990s); Distinguishing proof of the firm as an individual from a total worth chain (1990s). Since the 80s, the meaning of Product as anything offered is tested because of the new viewpoint that associations face: The achievement relies upon the capacity to change fulfillment to enchant. Consumer loyalty is distinguished as the new main impetus, and that is one of the essential thoughts of TQM. Spot is extended to incorporate the whole dispersion framework, which makes time and spot utility and may consolidate explicit frameworks, for example, without a moment to spare conveyance as a major aspect of channel the board. During the 1990s, another critical move happened. The job of connections in the advertising exercises of the association supplanted the exchange point of view of prior occasions. Cost is not, at this point the measure of cash paid to secure a solitary Product however the lifetime costs related with the procurement, use, and eventually removal of the advantages accomplished during a timeframe. Spot is not, at this point only the purpose of trade since that neglects to convey the communications that happen as the item changes possession and utility from conceptualisation to definite removal. Yudelson recommends that after almost 40 years, the 4Ps need to give up in light of the fact that, as appeared, the phrasing has not figured out how to deal with the difficulties of advancements in showcasing thought and practice. Notwithstanding, no generally concurred or agreeable substitution has showed up and any individual who experienced childhood with the idea of advertising blend (clients, promoting experts and scholastics) would confront huge discord if the key worldview were excused. In this way, he proposes that the best system is Adaptation and not Revolution. His proposed adjustment centers around the basic parts of promoting as trade driven conduct, keeps up the straightforwardness and recognition of the 4Ps, perceives the worries of past pundits, and is equipped for applying to both single occurrence exchanges and long haul key connections. Item ought to be re-imagined as all the advantages (present or foreseen) that the purchaser or acquirer gets from the trade. It is suggested that Product be renamed as Performance to impart the feeling helpful for the client. Cost ought to be re-imagined as everything that the acquirer offers up to get the advantages. It is recommended that we allude to the second P as Penalty to connote those things that the client would need to surrender or look to limit while getting the advantage or Performance related with the trade. Advancement ought to be re-imagined to incorporate the entirety of the data that is conveyed between the gatherings to the exchange with regards to the current idea on Integrated Marketing Communications. The reason for the correspondence or data is to impact or urge each gathering to go into the exchange/relationship. This is practiced by giving data with respect to the expenses and advantages of the exchange or better-the Perception of the Performance and Penalty. Spot can be presently characterized as all that is done and required to encourage or achieve the trade and accordingly, Yudelson proposes its redefinition as Process. Connections Marketing A change in perspective Grã ¶nroos (1994) accepts that a change in perspective is occurring in promoting. One of the primary reasons lies underneath the idea of showcasing blend. The showcasing blend is a rundown of classifications of promoting factors. A rundown never incorporates every important component, it doesn't fit each circumstance, and it gets out of date. Additionally, the 4Ps speak to a distortion of Bordens unique idea, which was a rundown of 12 components not proposed to be a definition by any means. This rundown would most likely must be rethought in some random circumstance. Grã ¶nroos accepts that McCarthy either misconstrued the significance of Bordens advertising blend or his devotees misjudged McCarthys aims. Likely Bordens unique thought of a rundown of countless showcasing blend fixings that must be reexamined in each given circumstance was abbreviated for academic reasons and a progressively predetermined number of promoting factors appeared to fit run of the mill circumstances saw in the late 1950s and during the 1960s. The 4Ps were never relevant to all business sectors and to a wide range of advertising circumstances. The advancement of elective promoting speculations (collaboration/organize way to deal with modern advertising and the showcasing of administrations, client relationship financial aspects) exhibits that even from an administration point of view, the advertising blend and its 4Ps turned into an issue. Gronroos reasons that in modern promoting, administrations advertising, overseeing appropriation channels and even buyer bundled merchandise showcasing itself, a move is unmistakably occurring from showcasing to mysterious masses of client to creating and overseeing associations with pretty much notable or possibly some way or another recognized clients. Different Reviews and Criticism Constantinides (2006) attempted a writing survey on the status of Marketing Mix at the 21st century. He found that numerous analysts express genuine questions with regards to the job of the Mix as promoting the board instrument in its unique structure, proposing elective methodologies: adding new boundaries to the first Mix (for example 7Ps for administrations) or supplanting it with elective systems out and out. A portion of the shortcomings of the 4Ps recognized in the investigation are space explicit: disregarding the human factor, absence of key measurements, hostile stance and absence of intelligence. Two confinements anyway appear to be basic in completely audited classes: The models interior direction: The absence of express market contribution to the system which sources from the way that the Mix was initially evolved as an idea appropriate for promoting of shopper items in the mass-situated US producing area of the 60s The absence of personalisation: Significant s

Blog Archive MBA News Spaghetti and Marshmallows Are Part of the Core Curriculum at Haas It may sound like a grade school science experiment or an arts and crafts project gone wrong, but MBA students at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkley are learning to think critically and frame problems by playing with spaghetti and marshmallows. Poets and Quants explains that Haasâs Marshmallow Challenge may offer an unconventional, yet basic form of experiential learning. In her âProblem Finding, Problem Solvingâ course, which was added to Hassâs core curriculum two years ago, Senior Lecturer Sara Beckman challenges her class to work together in competing groups of five to construct the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string and one marshmallow (which must be placed on top), all within an 18-minute time limit. Whereas most leadership training emphasizes problem solving, Beckman explains that this exercise purports to teach âproblem framing,â something she sees as a fundamental conceptual skill that can equip future business leaders to think systemically, critically assess different frameworks and view problems creatively, before finding ways to solve them. But the best part comes at the end of the exercise: Beckman tells her class that kindergarteners tend to greatly outperform MBA students at the Marshmallow Challenge, suggesting that a career specialization and drive for success may sometimes actually work against opportunities for experimentation and innovation. American Revolutionary War and Urban Artisans - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 3 Words: 958 Downloads: 3 Date added: 2017/09/12 Category Advertising Essay Did you like this example? How did Britain attempt to restructure its colonial empire from 1688 to 1763? Were the years of the early eighteenth century a period of ââ¬Å"salutary neglect? â⬠Britain attempted to restructure its colonial empire from 1688 to 1763. One of various attempts was constructing a more coherent administration. In 1696, a professional Board of Trade replaced the old Lords of Trade and Parliament created overseas vice-admiralty courts. This would help England control who its colonies traded with and the vice-admiralty courts would help, without juries, prosecute smugglers who evaded the trade regulations set forth in the Navigation Acts. By doing all this England was quietly installing a machinery of imperial management tended by a corps of colonial bureaucrats. Parliament was mainly concerned with economic regulation and so added new articles such as fur, copper, and hemp to the list of items produced in the colonies, which had to be shipped to England before being shipped to another country. Parliament also curtailed colonial production of articles important to Englands economy but most importantly the passed the Molasses Act in 1733. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "American Revolutionary War and Urban Artisans" essay for you Create order Although Parliament tried to restructure its colonies by trying to stop colonial trade with other countries, it was unsuccessful because the acts, laws, and taxes were not enforced completely. For example,One attempt of stopping trade between New England and the French West Indies was by imposing a prohibitive duty of six pence per gallon on French slave-produced molasses. This turned many of New Englands largest merchants and distillers into smugglers. The years of the early eighteenth century were a period of ââ¬Å"salutary neglect. This was a time of peace or was actually a period of time-out in which both England and France used in the years until 1739 to strengthen their war-making capacity. Though this was known as a period of ââ¬Å"salutary neglectâ⬠, in reality it was an era when King and Parliament increased their control over colonial affairs. what made republicanism a revolutionary ideology in the eighteenth century? What criticisms did revolutionary Americans level against the British monarchy? Between 1763 to 1774 the colonists had been expressing many reactions to the crisis with Britain. Most of these reactions took the form of newspaper articles and pamphlets which were written by educated lawyers, clergymen, merchants, and planters. But not just the educated expressed themselves, the middling and lower ranks of society did as well. This part of the society did so in printed broad-sides, appeals on newspaper, and even ideologically ladden popular rituals. From this, the colonists pieced together a political ideology, which borrowed partly from English political thought, the theories of the Enlightenment, and their own experiences. This new ideology was called ââ¬Å"revolutionary republicanismâ⬠. But no single coherent ideology united the colonists. Revolutionary Americans began to criticize the British monarchy because they believed that England was carrying out ââ¬Å" a deep-land and desperate of imperial depotism for the extinction of all civil liberty. â⬠Because of this belief, every ministerial policy and parliamentary act in the decade after the stamp act appearred as a subversion of English liberties. By 1774, John Adam was writing of the ââ¬Å" conspiracy against the public liberty that was first regularly formed and began to be executed in 1763 and 1764. â⬠Another writer who shared his ideas from London was Benjamin Franklin. He described the ââ¬Å" extreme corruption prevalent among all orders of men in the old rotten stateâ⬠. Many other writers like them expressed their thoughts as well. Merchants also expressed their beliefs. Since the attack on constitutional rights blended closely with the threats to their economic interest, many merchants saw a coordinated attack on their ââ¬Å"lives, liberties, and property. â⬠According to many, if a man was not secure in his property, he could nott be secure in his citizenship, for it was property that gave a man the independence to shape his identity. These were some of the various forms of criticisms made by the revolutionary Americans. How did the growing revolutionary sentiment from 1764 to 1776 impact urban artisans, women, and farmers. The growing sentiment from 1764 to 1776 had an impact on urban artisans, women, and backcountry farmers in America. The urban artisans played an important role in forging and enforcing a non importation agreement in 1768. They were the ones who called public meetings, published newspaper appeals, organized boycotts, and tarred and feathered their opponents. Many merchants complained on what the artisans were doing. They said that mere artisans had ââ¬Å"no right to give their sentiments respecting an importation. â⬠But artisons did not care for what they had to say and forged ahead. By1772 artisans began lobbying for reform laws, were filling elected municipal positions, and insisted on their right to participate in nominating assemblymen and other important officeholders. And by 1774, the working classs meddling in state affairs reached a bold new stage- a defacto assumption of governmental powers by committees created by the people at large. Women also played an important role in the movement toward revolution. There most important role was to facilitate the boycott of Enlish goods. Besides that, women also signed nonimportation agreements, harssed complying merchants and helped organize ââ¬Å"fast daysâ⬠. Women were the key to making the nonconsumption pacts a success. They would weave cloth and spin yarn. The women began to have contests to publicize their commitment and in 1769, the women of tiny Middletown, Massachusetts, set the standard by weaving 20,522 yards of cloth, about 160 yards each. And after the Tea Act, the interjection of politics into the household economy increased as patriotic women boycotted their favorite drink. Nonetheless, women played a vital role in the movement toward revolution. Farmers formed associations after getting no satisfaction from legals forms of protest , which were called Regulators. Regulators forcibly closed courts, attacked the property of their enemies, and whipped and pblicly humiliated judges and lawyers. These actions were a key role in the movement toward revolution.

The companyââ¬â¢s search engine has become so popular that we donââ¬â¢t look up things on the Internet anymore, we ââ¬Ëgoogleââ¬â¢ them. The companyââ¬â¢s conquest of the digital business world has led some to argue itââ¬â¢s not just an ordinary company anymore, but rather a monopoly. But what are monopolies and is Google a digital monopoly? If so, should regulators try to find a way to limit them? This guide will look at whether we should be worried about Googleââ¬â¢s dominance in the digital world and why it might not be one of the worldââ¬â¢s most invincible companies. What is a monopoly? Before we look into the evidence of Google as a monopoly, it is important to understand what a monopoly is. The word is often used in the media, but not always in its proper meaning. In its essence a monopoly is a situation in which only a single company or group has the ownership of nearly all or all of the market for the given product or service. Therefore, a monopoly is a situation where competition is absent. In a strict academic sense the extreme case of capitalism is characterised as a market containing a single operator. Such situation often results in increased prices and even inferior products as the group has no competition in the market. Because of this, monopolies are tightly controlled in the modern world and therefore the strict definition of monopoly is highly unlikely in the modern world. The Dissolution Of The Manasteries Essay Research free essay sample
The Dissolution Of The Manasteries Essay, Research Paper Background to the Dissolution The Dissolution of the Monasteries and the events which followed, were all brought approximately as a direct consequence of the interruption with Rome. The ground for the interruption, lies merely in Henry? s defeat at his inability to procure a divorce signifier his married woman Catherine of Aragon, and a approval from the Pope for his new matrimony to Anne Boleyn, although arguably, there was a demand for reformation within the church. Prior to the interruption with Rome, the church was rife with pluralism, barratry ( one of the Catholic Pope? s chief weaknesss ) and breaches of the vows of celibacy. It is hence clear that there were jobs with the English church prior to the interruption, but although it was unpopular, many people including Henry remained Catholic: ? A house Catholic, he was acute to hold apostolic blessing, and the more improbable this became, the more he was forced to oppugn the Pope? s legal power in England? [ 2 ] To carry through a interruption, Henry needed some sort of justification, and he would besides hold to guarantee that in implementing the interruption itself, he was non seen as back uping unorthodoxy and the Protestant reformation in peculiar. A sequence of genuinely radical Acts of the Apostless of parliament now cut the bonds? religious, legal, fiscal? which linked the English church and province to Rome? [ 3 ] There were several chief landmarks in the interruption with Rome, the first of which was the act in restraint of entreaties. This was a justification and definition of royal domination, and was grafted by Thomas Cromwell. It was the act of domination in 1534 nevertheless, that would turn out to be Henrys greatest measure frontward in the interruption. It confirmed Henry? s headship of the church and explicitly reserved the Crown the rights to the organizing and jurisdictional powers once held by the Papacy. By this, the Crown would command the right O specify the church? s instructions and doctrinal determinations, finally ensuing in the ruin of the monasteries. As a consequence of Henry? s force per unit area on the English clergy in his efforts to convert the Pope to allow a divorce, the disintegration of the monasteries became an of import and necessary undertaking. By taking the Pope? s most loyal protagonists from England, Henry was badly restricting his power. In 1533, in position of Anne Boleyn? s impending gestation, Thomas Cranmer, an archbishop, declared Henry? s matrimony to Catherine shut-in, ( ? the male monarch must halt life in this wickedness with this adult female who is non his married woman? [ 4 ] ) and married him to Anne Boleyn. ? The Act of Supremacy? so, established Henry as caput of the Church of England, and marked the terminal of the Pope? s influence in his kingdom. Threatened by the Pope with exclusion, if he did non take Catherine back, all hopes of rapprochement with Rome were passed. Henry? s reformation was traveling quickly. When H VIII foremost initiated the disintegration of the Monasteries, he was confronting unfavorable judgment from assorted sides. It must be understood that in make up ones minding the cogency of Henry? s claims for the disintegration, there are two sides to the statement. Protestant supp orters of Henry? s actions, argue that after the 1530? s, all the monasteries were corrupt and a topographic point where evildoers lived in a luxury paid for by others. The grounds for cloistered life they claimed, were based on a prevarication created by the Papacy, to beef up its ain place: In order to decrease the clip a individual spends in purgatory when they die, money must be donated to the church in order to salvage their psyche. As a consequence of these false and morally corrupt claims on behalf of the Papacy, Protestants argued that the monasteries deserved to be dissolved, as the money they survived upon was gained under false pretensions. Another factor that supports Henry? s statement for the disintegration, were the consequences found from the? heroism Ben Sira? . Within this, it was discovered that on norm, one one-fourth of a cloistered houses wealth went to the caput of the house, normally an absentee leader, populating their life as a state gentleman, free signifier duty. Disclosures such as this evidently angered the populace, but whether or non Henry was angered in the same manner, or simply saw these factors as farther support for his claims to fade out the monasteries is problematic. It is true that there was a certain component of corruptness nowadays, with immorality, sexual perversion and homosexual patterns all being admitted to by 100s of monastics. But certainly, all these factors point to a demand for reform instead than disintegration. The above grounds entirely does non show a clear image of the existent state of affairs of the monasteries in England, that is certain. It is now known that merely 10 per centum of the cloistered houses in England were capable to corruptness, and that the bulk followed their cloistered ideals and manner of life unfailingly, greatly supported by the populace, and hence laying waste to Henry? s claims that the monasteries were no longer regarded as topographic points of worship, but of wickedness, animal and detestable. Monasteries by and large functioned good, and there is an air of lip service about these claims, if we consider that Thomas Cromwell himself gained wealth at the monasteries # 8217 ; expense wherever possible. Cromwell accepted assorted? gifts? from the smaller cloistered houses, in return for back uping their entreaties against the new statute law? s, an act which he neither intended to transport out nor brood upon. It is clear so that following his promise to the King to do him and the Crown wealthy and moneymaking one time more, Cromwell decided that the closing of the monasteries was where he would accomplish this proposed wealth. By lawfully shuting the monasteries, this? larceny? would do the King affluent beyond his wildest dreams. If we consider so, that Henry? s motivations were about wholly based on his want for wealth, and without which his proposed disintegration would neer hold taken topographic point, the cogency of his claims is slightly decreased. Henry VIII? s grounds for he disintegration of the monasteries hence, were non at all justified in the manner he had claimed. He sought merely wealth, and it is this desire to derive control and achieve the wealths that came with it which motivated Henry. His greed and the falseness of his many claims against the monasteries succeeds in uncovering his existent wants, and nullifies any old statements based on his spiritual concerns for the disintegration.

Here it is: A Short Sample Essay on Why Play is Significant in Helping Children Learn and Understand Life Play is more significant than you might think it is. Play has a vital role in developing several aspects of a child. While it may seem nothing to you but science has shown that playing with kids or letting them play with toys, pets and even themselves, allows them to overcome physical and mental challenges. When children are playing, they learn to solve problems quickly, and can hone skills far better than those who donââ¬â¢t have the luxury to play. In this paper, you are going to see the benefits of play and why itââ¬â¢s significant in helping children learn and understand life. Imaginative play is one of the most common aspects of a baby, which starts around at the age of 2. Everything that a child perceives, becomes his playing thing in his imagination. According to researchers, this is due to the fact that these imaginations become a recognition symbol. For example, a baby can see chunks of woods and imagine it to come into life and turn into a drum set or a boat. This makes a childââ¬â¢s brain work on its own bringing in new ideas. This play allows children to understand that any object can actually transform in something better, hence, making them understand how the real-world works. While we may not notice how to play impacts a child in the early years, science has proven that it plays a vital role in the long-run. With imaginative play, a child can understand the phenomenon of a superhero, a father or a police officer very easily. A baby experiments with identities and professions to explore different scenarios and outcomes that can take place during his/her life. To be as simple as possible, imaginative play allows your child to have a sense of control because he becomes the master of interpreting the practices of the real-world and how everyday life works. However, when a baby grows into a toddler, his play changes and becomes, what is known as, the parallel play. This helps children socialize with other children, creating story lines that are so complex that only they can understand. It helps them understand what the terms like co-operation negotiation and sharing really is. According to Sara Wilford, director of the Art of Teaching Graduate Program at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, when children start to disagree with something and want to take decision, they start developing social skills. Physical play on the other hand, allows children to have control over their bodies. By skipping, they can learn how to keep balance. Climbing monkey bars would allow their body to build strength and muscle. Sport activities, that involve groups, would help them understand coordination. Primary motor skills, such as running, pedaling, throwing etc. improve first before anything else. Fine motor skills, however, also start taking place at the age of 3, if the child is consistently being playful. Physical play can also allow children to understand what stress and crankiness is. Your child likes to remain fit, which is why he demands a little physical play almost every hour or so (after the age of 3). This is because a child can become grumpy or tense if he hasnââ¬â¢t been active for an adequate amount of time. It may also cause the child to gain weight (unhealthy). This play is so important that it helps them overcome mental challenges too. For example, if a baby canââ¬â¢t express a complex problem heââ¬â¢s going through; he will likely express it through physical play or would review it again and again until he finds a solution to it. This helps children overcome fear, and makes them independent. Play also helps in creating independence and ingenuity in children. If a child is involved in multiple play routines, he/she will be able to dress and feed himself. Believe it or not, but research has shown that adults who have been more playful in their childhood, did better at school, at sports, jobs and pretty much everything. These are the benefits that a child attains from play, which is why introducing playful habits and activities to a newborn child is very significant to improve child development. Perfect! Since now you have read our first guide i.e. 12 facts for a research paper on child development and this one. Itââ¬â¢s time to move to our final guide i.e. writerââ¬â¢s manual for research paper on child development, which would help you to lay a strong foundation of how a research paper is beautifully composed and written. On a specific documentary called Two Towns of Jasper - Image Ethics Essay
On a specific documentary called Two Towns of Jasper - Image Ethics - Essay Example The film has however tried to bridge the gap by displaying images to illustrate the widening difference and discrimination between blacks and whites. This paper therefore seeks to explore the image ethics that emerge in Two Towns of Jasper. The paper will also illustrate how the film makers approach and understand their various obligations and responsibilities to their viewers, to those who are featured in the film, to their profession as well as to themselves. Reference is made to the Moral Rights of Subjects in Photographs, Film, and Television by Katz, Gross and Ruby via analyzing Two Towns of Jasper, a documentary film. There are significant ethical issues and concerns that are provoked by the William and Whitney in the film ââ¬Å"Two Towns of Jasper.â⬠These issues arose where the white and black subjects used in the film were affected by the nature of the images displayed to the viewers. Therefore the two filmmakers made ethical considerations that took care of the rights of the subjects as well as those of the viewers of the film or television. The film, ââ¬Å"Two Towns of Jasper,â⬠observes the moral rights of those appearing in it as the subjects. However, the film has been criticized that it presents fake images of the subjects that are somehow embarrassing and intrusive to both the viewers and the film subjects. Some of the image ethics that raise concerns in the ââ¬Å"Two Towns of Jasperâ⬠and the documentary include the situation in which the subjects were portrayed in a false light. It appears to the viewers that the subjects may have failed to secure a consent that is completely informed and therefore their images were appropriated. In this film, ââ¬Å"Two Towns of Jasper,â⬠the groups of minority and individuals were represented accurately and fairly. Williams and Whitney observed the peculiar moral obligations of the subjects in the film. This is a clear indication that the filmmakers understand their obligations and res ponsibilities to the subjects as well as to their viewers. By respecting the moral rights and observing image ethics when making the film, it shows that the filmmakers clearly understand well the role of their profession. From my review of the film, ââ¬Å"Two Towns of Jasper,â⬠the concerns and issues of image ethics that are exhibited is the journalistic integrity threat that is probably posed by the software visual editing used by the filmmakers. The type of images displayed in the film also raises concern as they appear so uncertain to the viewers. The minority group is also not presented in an appealing manner which may raise ethical questions among the viewers. It also appears in the film that there has been an erosion of civility and privacy of the minority group, the blacks, in the film. However, the book, ââ¬Å"Moral Rights of Subjects in Photographs, Film, and Televisionâ⬠by Katz, Gross and Ruby, has elaborated these ethical concerns as a breach to the privacy and rights of the subjects. The mentioned authors have also amplified the qualms of image ethics as mistakes committed in darkroom of electronics. The issues of image ethics in the film add to the continuous visual development studies. The anthology in the film, ââ¬Å"Two Towns of Jasper,â⬠has reached into perspectives and discipline beyond any criticism and considers the dilemmas in the visual presentations. Additionally, the filmmakers, Williams and Whitney, have taken into consideration the challenge of observing, to

The Simple Pendulum Lab Report Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
The Simple Pendulum - Lab Report Example 1.79 seconds) as compared to 1.66 seconds in the second case. This can be explained using the formula:; where T is the period, L is the length, and g is force of gravity. T and L are directly proportional (Wilson 39). The ââ¬Å"Tâ⬠values for the 81 cm long simple pendulum of table 1 are more or less similar to the ââ¬Å"Tâ⬠values of the 81 cm long pendulum of table 2. For table 1, the average period is 1.77 seconds and for table 2 is 1.79 seconds. However, the error margin in table 2 is significantly bigger. The same results can be seen when comparison is done using 61 cm long simple pendulum and taking into account the error margin. This results explained by the fact that regardless of the size of the mass, the pull of gravity, which is also the driving force, remains the same. Acceleration for the two different masses also remains the same resulting to the similar period. In other words, the size of the mass has no effect on the period of a simple pendulum (Wilson

The Left Digit Effect in Pricing Strategy Essay Example for Free
The Left Digit Effect in Pricing Strategy Essay Have you ever come across price tags that have 9 endings? Have you ever bought those merchandise with 9 endings thinking that was the best deal and ended up with an enormous bill? Do you notice that the 9 endings are usually printed in a much smaller size than the digits on the left? This is a result of a psychological concept called ââ¬Å"The Left Digit Effectâ⬠in which people tend to pay more attention to the left-most digits than the ones on the right. The idea has been widely used for decades for its great impact on consumersââ¬â¢ shopping behavior. Nine endings can easily be seen everywhere: stationeries of $1. 99, $4. 99 in bookstores, cars of $2,999, $5,999 in a dealership, real estates of $199,999, $299,999 on the market. It is interesting how such a small change can make a price tag seem significantly lower than another one of just one cent or one dollar higher, as well as greatly affect consumersââ¬â¢ decision. Even the smartest shoppers can fall for this little trick. For a lot of times I found myself wondering why I bought goods of the best prices but ended up with a large bill. Later I realized that I had fallen victim of the usage of the left digit effect in pricing strategy. However, it is fascinating to learn about how the application of such a simple effect turns out to have a great impact on peopleââ¬â¢s mind without their even being aware of it. The left digit effect can be simply defined as peopleââ¬â¢s paying disproportionate attention to the digits on the left compare to the ones on the right. This results from humanââ¬â¢s instinct of reading from left to right. Another possible reason is that the encoding processes in humanââ¬â¢s mind start before people even finish reading all of the digits. They tend to think fast in order to move on with other things, so they underestimate the importance of the right digits and make the digits on the left the magnitude. Taking advantage of that, companies and producers apply the effect in pricing strategy. That was the point when 9 endings were brought into the market. One reason to account for such a wonder that the 9 endings are doing to businesses is the difficulty of adding up odd numbers. People are more familiarized with the decimal number system which consists of 10 numbers. As a consequence, the appearance of 9 endings in prices is a great change in peopleââ¬â¢s ability to do the math. They make it much harder to control the total spending as people are used to dealing with round numbers. For example, it is obviously easier to add 300 and 200 than 299 and 199, as the first one is 500 and the second one is 498. When not being able to add up the prices, people are unaware of their total spending. Most of the times, consumers just ignore the 9 endings rather than do the proper rounding. Even though the cents are seen but they are partially ignored because the brain starts encoding information immediately after the left-most digits are read. A theory proposed by Keith Coulter ââ¬â Associate Professor of Marketing at Graduate School of Management, Clark University ââ¬â said that the effect can be enhanced provided the cents are printed in a smaller size than the dollar part, so the cents are more likely to be ignored or partially ignored by fast-thinking customers. A common viewpoint of the effectââ¬â¢s psychological impact is that the 9 endings lead consumers to believe that goods are marked at the lowest price possible and that it is the best deal out there. When they check out, that is when a concept called cognitive dissonance takes effect. In other words, when having to decide between two conflicting outcomes, people have a tendency to choose the one that makes them feel happier about their choice. Ending up with a huge bill, they often defend themselves that itââ¬â¢s worth the money and what they bought was a good bargain. Also, 9 endings play an important role when it comes to price bands. One cent or one dollar drop can make the price appear in the lower price bands and therefore be seen by more potential customers. For instance, an old car of $1,999 will still be placed in $1,000-$2,000 price band though itââ¬â¢s just a dollar to the next price band. As a result, it can be seen by customers who want cars in the $1,000-$2,000 range, besides the ones who want cars above $2,000. However, the left digit effect has been proved to only work if the left-most digit changes. In other words, consumers become more sensitive to price changes when the one cent drop results the left digit of the prices to change. To clarify the idea, in a small survey which I carried out in Southeast campus of Houston Community College with 21 students, when being asked to choose between two pens of $3 and $3. 99, the participants showed no clear preference over which one they like better. However, when the prices were changed to $4 and $3. 99, 17 out of 21 participants reported that they would choose the second pen because ââ¬Å"it was cheaperâ⬠. Although there was a whole dollar difference compare to just one cent after the change in prices, the participants become more sensitive about how much money they spend when the left-most digit changes. When the brain quickly scans the prices, the same left digits will make one think that there is no significant difference between them although it was the right digits that determine the difference. However, if the left digits change, even though the right digits make them just one cent different, the brain automatically defines a big gap between the two prices and therefore lead people to choose the one whose left digit is lower. The research has provided me with an in-depth view of the psychological impact of the left digit effect in pricing strategy. Before conducting the project, all I thought of the 9 endings was that they would make prices seem lower and therefore more appealing to potential customers. However, after doing a deep research on the topic, Iââ¬â¢ve learned a lot more than I thought I would. Iââ¬â¢ve learned that the effect originates from humanââ¬â¢s thought processes itself: the brain starts encoding the information immediately before we even finish reading all of the digits, and that the 9 endings donââ¬â¢t always work but need an important condition for them to take effect: the left digit changes as a result of the one cent or one dollar drop . It also amazed me how peopleââ¬â¢s decision and shopping behavior are influenced and determined by such a small effect without their being aware of it, and how the application of such a little thing can do wonder to businesses. The left digit effect itself is linked with other interesting psychological effects that trigger me to search for more knowledge. Rather than just a surface learning, I was able to go deep into the root of the issue and learn about its true nature. However, I think the most important thing that I was able to learn from doing this research is how to look at familiar things in a daily routine from a psychological viewpoint and analyze them through that viewpoint.

Comparing Barry Lopezs A Presentation of Whales and Scott Russell Sand
Comparing Barry Lopez's A Presentation of Whales and Scott Russell Sander's Buckeye Was it just a coincidence that I had my firstââ¬âtelevisedââ¬âencounter with sperm whales only a day after I read Barry Lopezââ¬â¢s essay, ââ¬Å"A Presentation of Whalesâ⬠? Was my strong spiritual response to Scott Russell Sanderââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Buckeyeâ⬠a sign that I, too, will feel the ghostly presences of my beloved kindred when they leave this world? No way! I am not a mystic. I am not supernaturally connected to sperm whales or spirits, but I will admit that I entertained self-important thoughts while reading both essays. Not only did I stare at the professional headshots of the writers before I read their essays; I adored them and empathized with their visions. Perhaps nature writers are advantaged: they can be scientific and not be perceived as being such by non-scientific readers. After all, the word ââ¬Ënatureââ¬â¢ generates images of the earth and all of its sensory treasures, whereas ââ¬Ëscienceââ¬â¢ generates images of laboratory coats, long calculations, laborious extractions, and obscure words like genome, polypeptide and spermatozoa. Nature writers are free to incorporate various genres in their writing, which interests a broad population of readers. Readers are attracted to writing styles that reinforce their subjective perceptions of themselves and the world. A readersââ¬â¢ opinion does not necessarily indicate the success or failure of a writer, but rather the state of mind of the reader when she approaches the piece. This is also how we approach people and events in our lives. We are animals, and therefore we must engage with nature. While Barry Lopez and Scott Russell Sanders have a keen sense of t he innate connection between animals and landscapes, ... ...arenââ¬â¢t scientific or historical, they are still objects in his immediate landscape. Alone, they are solitary objects, but together they create a story of human life. Curiosity and neediness attract humans to philosophy, in a similar way that they attract humans to religious dogma, cults and magic. Fortunately, nature narratives draw on human interests in various disciplines without simultaneously wreaking havoc on society. Writing helps us create and understand ideas. Personal values and scientific information are often used interchangeably by Barry Lopez and Scott Russell Sanders. Unless the reader is indifferent, both writers prove they are capable of illustrating essential elements of the human experience in both public and private moments. As readers, we are bonded to Lopez and Sanders because of our role in the innate chaos of human interaction.

Being Immersed Into Virtual Worlds
Being Immersed in Virtual Worlds Being immersed in virtual worlds is a very appealing topic to me and often times I, myself and others dive into those kind of things many, many times especially with the increase in technology over the last few decades essay writer salary. The focus of this essay will answer specific discussions such as the impact of humanity that indulge in the artificial, virtual world by video games, movies, media and many other technologies. In addition to that, I will write about why I consider it to be a leisure time as well as the uses of all these virtual reality in the future.First of all, the technology involved in artificial, virtual world is all fantasy and has nothing to do with the real world. The problem is, some people donââ¬â¢t know the difference and take it out in real life as if itââ¬â¢s a game to them. The social implications of violent video games are often conflicted because some researchers, who are anti-violence towards video games, say that the majority of the people who play these games are more aggressive, addictive and so involved in it, they do things unpredictable, thus they are the ones who cause school shootings, crimes, etc.True to say, this is not the case because obviously everyone who play video games reacts to it differently such as myself. Even more so, Iââ¬â¢ve been playing video games for many years since I was a child and have had no psychological effects from the games. I clearly know right and wrong, fantasy from reality. How do I know this? I was taught well by my parents and as well as ventured out in the real world. Thereââ¬â¢s also something called being pro-social, which means caring about the welfare and rights of othersââ¬â¢ life and not put their games as a priority.Well, in some cases, violent video games do promote pro-social behavior which is a positive thing as they do not think about themselves and their leisure time only. This goes for all action and violence involved withi n movies and the media too. Being immersed into virtual worlds become a problem when one doesnââ¬â¢t know the difference, therefore naive of the facts and to make matters worse, imitate what they see in the game, most commonly ââ¬Å"Grand Theft Autoâ⬠series which is one of the most popular among gamers. The Grand Theft Auto series is a free-roam action-adventure video game where you are in the open world of a large city freely killing people and stealing cars, escaping from cops, etc. To provide with evidence, hereââ¬â¢s a sufficient research on that matter according to the most recent school shooting perpetrator, Adam Lanza. According to the Times Ideas website, Christopher J.Ferguson, the author of the article titled ââ¬Å"Sandy Hook Shooting: Video Games Blamed, Againâ⬠has stated, ââ¬Å"As a video game violence researcher and someone who has done scholarship on mass homicidesâ⬠¦There is no good evidence that video games or other media contributes, even in a small way, to mass homicides or any other violence among youth. â⬠(Ferguson P. 3) We canââ¬â¢t blame violent video games for everything because like I said, there are more than just violent video games alone.Adam Lanza may have played violent video games and went to a target shooting range, but thereââ¬â¢s more to it than that. He was described as a loner with no friends, but brilliant. There was something wrong with him that no one knew or cared about; otherwise it would have prevented the Sandy Hook massacre. Secondly, simply playing video games, watching movies or TV such as soap opera and pornography are just leisure time and entertainment. These are things that should not be applied to real life.A lot of people pay for this and the companies make billions of dollars from their customers and they will continue to keep that trend going for many decades to come, the companies attitude are ââ¬Å"We will do whatever it takes to make more moneyâ⬠and that is prett y much their only goal especially with the entertainment industries. Companies never run out of ideas because the virtual world is full of so many possibilities unlike real life such as Star Wars, War of the Worlds, Zombies, Aliens, Horror among many others.Sometimes, it may occur to some individuals who indulge themselves into this fantasy world and want to take it to the next level recruiting real victims and that becomes bad. In general, there are a lot of factors as to why serial killers, serial rapists, sexual sadists, online predators exist and that is because of this amongst other things that happen in their life to trigger such actions. What is even funnier is that religious people say itââ¬â¢s a sin to watch or play with these types of entertainment. Is killing a human in a virtual world a sin? Absolutely not! As a Christian, I believe we shouldnââ¬â¢t be mastered, manipulated or consumed by anything where it will affect us and others in a negative way. The application s of virtual reality are largely visual and less on words. We have become more visual over the years. However, words will still be around because how else would we explain the visual image without words? Or how else would we make an argument depicting the images and/or videos?Visual communication is direct and more efficient due to the pace of understanding it. It processes faster to the brain than words as if itââ¬â¢s like coding, trying to decipher what it is saying and then understanding it. Most people find TV, movies, video games more fun, appealing, and attractively productive than words. As the saying goes, visual communication is worth more than a thousand words. But we can also say that itââ¬â¢s a 50/50 between words and visual, they both are blended in, and despite how often one is used over the other. There are also computer applications of virtual reality such as powerful Adobe Creative Suite tools able to make logos and vectors, image manipulation through Photoshop , After Effects that add visual special effects seen in action movies, animation, wide ranges of specific colors & objects and many more. You can say that these programs practically make our eyes see more, making it look more attractive and innovative that our eyes cannot see alone. Moreover, virtual reality is originally produced on a computer, engineered and then imported to all technological devices such as porting to mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.In Wikipediaââ¬â¢s definition of virtual reality, more examples of hands-on equipments used are Computer-aided design (CAD), graphics hardware acceleration, head-mounted display, database gloves, and miniaturization (making powerful devices smaller scales but still effective). Applications that apply are implementation (most commonly programming languages such as Java, C++, Perl, or Python), Manufacturing (serve a new product design, prototypes, Computer-Aided Manufacturing), and Urban design (urban regeneration and planning t ransport projects). In the future, virtual reality is becoming more surreal with the advancements in technology. As technology becomes more advanced and complex, so will virtual reality. Virtual reality is all surrounded by computers and devices extracted from real life and data stored in memory. It is amazing how fast technology has boosted in just a few decades and we are already doing High-Definition and 3-D. Now, virtual reality needs to complete all five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste in the world of virtual reality being able to freely walk in what you imagined to be reality! How extraordinary technology will be to fulfill all five senses in virtual reality, in your own world that you, not only imagined, but also produced!

The Reflection And Self Analysis Essay - 1566 Words
PHN Shadowing Reflection and Self Analysis 1. In preparing for the shadowing clinical experience I have read and reviewed from Garcia, Schager Schoon (2014) chapter one, chapter two, chapter three, chapter six, chapter seven, and chapter thirteen. I also previously attended an orientation to Washington County Public Health on September 19, 2016. Also, I have read material for Washington County Public Health policies. After this material was completed I was assigned to a local public health nurse that was close to my community to shadow. I contacted the individuals and communicated what information I was looking for in this clinical experience, when and where to meet, and what the dress code would be for the experience. 2. Partaking in the shadowing activities I was present for a full day from 8am-3:30pm. There was one visit early in the morning for a home safety visit. During this visit there was also a child protection agency visiting at the same time. My public health nurse (PHN) briefed me on the case before attending the family visit, explained what forms were used for the visit, and then I just stood in a corner of the apartment and observed what the nurse was doing. I also observed the interaction of the family with all the people that were present. The second visit was right after the first visit. This was interesting because there were multiple police vehicle handling a situation at the same apartment complex, and learned that this was not something new theShow MoreRelatedSelf Analysis Reflection Paper1916 Words à |à 8 PagesGrowing Up a Self-Analysis Reflection on Culture Every individual is raised with beliefs, values, and assumptions about life that impact who they are.
